This wax ribbon is the most widely used and most affordable choice for thermal transfer printing on paper labels. Do you print mostly indoors, on labels that aren't exposed to friction, moisture or chemicals, such as address or shipping labels, warehouse labels or price tags? Then this is exactly what you need.

The difference with resin or wax/resin ribbons lies in how durable the print is. Wax adheres well to standard and coated paper, but the print is more sensitive to scratching, moisture and heat than with resin. For labels that hang outdoors, come into contact with chemicals, or are wiped frequently, a resin or wax/resin ribbon is a better fit. For most indoor uses, though, wax is more than sufficient and considerably cheaper.

This ribbon is used together with a thermal transfer printer (not a direct thermal printer): the printhead melts the wax coating on the ribbon onto the label, giving a sharp, durable print that doesn't fade the way direct thermal printing often does.

Universally compatible: suitable for most label printers that support this ribbon format, such as Zebra, Honeywell, TSC, Godex, Citizen and more.

Usein kysytyt kysymykset
Is this wax ribbon also suitable for plastic labels?
<p>Not really. Wax ink is formulated to bond with paper fibres, and generally doesn't adhere well to smooth, non-porous plastic surfaces like polypropylene or polyester. On plastic labels, a wax print tends to smear or rub off easily.</p><p>For plastic labels, choose the wax/resin or resin version of this ribbon instead, both of which are formulated to bond properly with synthetic label materials.</p>
What's the price difference between wax and the wax/resin version of this format, and is it worth it?
<p>Wax/resin costs somewhat more than plain wax, reflecting its improved resistance to scratching, light chemical contact and moisture. Whether that's worth it depends on how your labels are used.</p><p>If your labels are printed and used indoors on plain paper without much handling, plain wax is the more economical and perfectly adequate choice. If your labels are touched often, printed on coated paper, or need a bit more durability without paying for full resin, the wax/resin version is worth the modest extra cost.</p>
